SCAR LIGHTENING

WHAT IS SCAR LIGHTENING?

Scars must be fully healed and at least one year old before treatment. This service is suitable for men and women, all skin tones, and clients over 18 years of age.

Scar Lightening is a cosmetic service designed to improve the appearance of darker scars so they blend more naturally with the surrounding skin.

This treatment uses a specialized cosmetic tattoo technique designed to improve the appearance of hyper pigmented scars. This process helps soften the look of discoloration and can gradually lighten darker areas of the scar while improving the overall appearance and texture of the skin.

Multiple sessions may be recommended depending on the size, depth, and age of the scar. Proper aftercare is important for the best results. While improvement is often seen, results vary for each individual and complete scar removal cannot be guaranteed.

WHAT SCARS ARE TREATED?

Scars Treated: Dark/ Hyper pigmented scars; red, pink, purple scars that result from:

✦ Post Op scars- BBL, Lipo, Tummy Tuck, Mommy Make Over, Breast Augmentation, C-Section, Face Lift, etc.

✦ Surgical scars, like knee surgery.

✦ Cleft Palate scar

✦ Acne scars

✦ Burn scars

✦ Self Harm scars

RESULTS

The scar demonstrates gradual lightening following successive treatment sessions. Two potential outcomes can be expected:

The first possible outcome is the scar can lighten to the client's natural surrounding skin tone.

A second possible outcome is that the scar may lighten slightly more than the client’s natural surrounding skin tone. In this case, camouflage tattooing with pigment may be recommended to help blend the lighter scar more evenly with the surrounding skin.

The procedure can take 2-4 sessions for successful results, in rare cases 5-6.

During the appointment no numbing is applied as it can disrupt the skin and effect the effectiveness of the treatment. Discomfort can fluctuate depending on the area treated, usually a 4 out of 10.

After the appointment- It's very important to follow aftercare instructions to ensure proper healing. The skin will go through stages of healing, and sending weekly photos is encouraged to answer questions and supply you with the best plan.

Clients will leave the appointment red and inflamed. The skin will feel warm and sensitive to the touch. All of this is normal and expected.

Slight burning and itching in the early days is normal. Do not scratch the area. When the swelling subsides, redness may last up to 20-40 days. After redness subsides the stretch marks will appear darker than the surrounding natural skin tone. The final result may occur between 60-90 days, we will asses the need of another session after 60 days. In some cases it can take longer to heal; healing can extend up to 120 days if needed.

Clients that are very prone to hyperpigmentation, extremely fair skinned clients (Fitz Patrick 1), slower healing clients, and clients over the age of 50 healing can take upwards of 120 days.

Vegans and vegetarians may experience longer healing, over 120 days.
