Permanent makeup is a 2-step process and is 50% complete after the first session. Only after the touch up appointment is the process complete. There are cases where a touch up might not be needed or can be prolonged to a later date. We will come up with a plan during your touch up appointment.
More on touch ups: Touch ups are scheduled 8-10 weeks after the initial appointment to be absolutely sure the skin is ready for treatment. A touch up is required to reinforce the brow's shape and pigment as it is normal to experience some patchiness, fading, missing strokes, etc, during the healing process. The touch up appointment reinforces the shape and color, and it creates the final and desired result.
PMU healing cycle can take up to 8 weeks depending on your body's regeneration. Your new eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle and feelings of uncertainty might surface. Just believe and trust the process!
First 2 weeks- The skin is open and PMU is fresh. It's crucial to follow after care instructions, avoid exposure to water and anything that causes your pores to open- swimming, hot tub, sauna, hot bath/showers, steam rooms, hot yoga, exercising/training, anything that makes you sweat- it will fade your fresh permanent makeup. Avoiding sun exposure to your FACE is very important- you should wear a HAT and shade your face. No swimming- chlorine and salt water fade permanent makeup, especially when fresh. Mild flecks/scabs can also appear that will fall off on their own- absolutely no picking! You can't wear makeup or sunscreen until the peeling process is fully complete, which can last for several days. Only use the balm provided in. the aftercare kit.
Week 2-3- The epidermis has closed and most permanent makeup appears to look much lighter as it's been "encapsulated" with new skin. Please continue to wear a hat, and at this stage it's safe to apply a little amount of makeup and sunscreen on the brow area.
Week 4- Your PMU has gone through several stages of healing and by the end of week 4 the pigment has settled and neutralized to its natural color. Due to natural skin regeneration clients may lose hair strokes or the brows might look patchy, which might make the brows look uneven or too light. All skin types handle pigment differently and concerns will be addressed at the touch up.
Please keep in mind...
Your eyebrows will look 40% darker and up to 15% thicker during the first 5 days.
As the brows heal the color will lighten 30-40% to a neutral tone and will shrink in size 1-2mm. Brows will look slightly smaller around the touch up appointment due to shrinkage.
The artist has no control over what occurs during the healing process therefore it's the client's responsibility to read the aftercare and follow instructions diligently to obtain the best outcome.
Permanent Makeup Emotions:
Day 1: OMG! I love my new brows!
Day 2-4: OH NO! They're so dark and thick! *tear*
Day 5-7: My brows are falling off!
Day 8-10: Um... my brows are gone...?
Day 11-30: My brows are coming back! But they look. a little patchy and uneven.
After second session: YAY! I love my new brows even more now!
Appointment Expectations:
Please read through and follow all after care instructions to ensure the best result. Not following after care can result in undesired results like discoloration, pigment loss/poor retention, scabbing, and abnormal healing. Improper care increases risk of infections during the first 14 days. Please do not hesitate to reach out for assistance.
